A great example of how technology is bringing the world together
As part of their ‘Family Portraits’ campaign, Skype released a tear-jerking video that follows the real-life story of two best friends with a special bond, but who had never physically met. (dsmmcm1314)
There are many reasons reasons why this content shouldn’t work – it’s over three minutes long for a start, its off brand with its emotional high point (whereupon they physically meet) has nothing to do with the Skype service itself – but the beautiful story being told really brings to life Skype’s proposition.
This campaign is a reminder that good marketing is all about telling stories. People-centric stories are the ones that the public stands up and listen to. Uploaded on YouTube on October 30, the video has so far recorded more than one million views on the platform.
